Rates of Pilotage
LANCASTER PORT COMMISSION
RATES OF PILOTAGE
EFFECTIVE FROM 1 APRIL 2021
The following pilotage rates and charges shall be payable, namely:
From River Lune No 1 Buoy or any intermediate point to Glasson Dock or Vice Versa, Pilot’s Fees will be charged at a rate of £0.11p per DWAT per voyage*.
From River Lune No 1 Buoy or any intermediate point to Lancaster of Vice Versa, Pilot’s Fees will be charged at a rate of £0.22p per DWAT per voyage*.
In the case where a Pilot is requested to attend a vessel for the purpose of shifting berths, a standard charge of £50 is made.

LONG 02º 59′ 59″ W
And is the normal station for picking up and dropping off the Pilot.
DETENTION AND SPECIAL SERVICES
If a booked Pilot is cancelled, before he has commenced active duty in preparation for the booked service (normally 2 ½ hours before High Water) then a charge of 25% of normal rates shall be payable.
In the case of a Pilot who has been requested to attend a vessel due to sail finding his services are not required, and is given less than two hours notice that his services are not required, then a charge of 40% of normal rates shall be payable.
Where an estimated time of arrival at the Pilot Boarding Station for an inbound vessel is received, and that vessel fails to arrive in time for that tide or for any other reason is unable to proceed with the passage inwards, a charge of 80% of normal rates shall apply if the Pilot has attended at the Pilot Station in readiness.
In the case of a Pilot who is retained on board a vessel which is at anchor within the Pilotage District, or whilst no Pilotage services are being rendered, a fee of £200 shall be payable for the first 12 hours (or part thereof) that he is retained. For each successive period of 12 hours (or part thereof) a fee of £250 shall be payable, provided that no charge shall be made if the detention does not exceed 2 hours.
Vessels outbound from the Port of Lancaster to any Port, and from which vessel the Pilot is unable to disembark, due to stress of weather or any other cause, shall pay to the Pilot, in addition to travelling and subsistence expenses properly incurred, an hourly charge of £25 from the time the vessel leaves the Lancaster Pilotage District until the Pilot disembarks at the vessels first Port of Call.
Where a Pilot is giving a Pilotage service to vessels under tow, then the rate charged will be full for the vessel towed, plus half the rates due for the tug.
BOARDING AND LANDING CHARGES
From River Lune No 1 Buoy or any intermediate point to Glasson Dock or Vice Versa, Boarding and Landing will be charged at a rate of £0.11p per DWAT per voyage*.
From River Lune No 1 Buoy or any intermediate point to Lancaster or Vice Versa, Boarding and Landing will be charged at a rate of £0.22p per DWAT per voyage*.
In the case of a Pilot who has been requested to attend a vessel finding that his services are not required, an attendance charge in respect of the services of the Pilot Boat of 80% of the normal charge shall be made, if the Pilot Boat has left its moorings or jetty to meet an inbound vessel.
In the case of a vessel due to sail, which does not do so, a charge of 50% of the normal charge shall be made if the Pilot Boat has left its moorings before notice of cancellation of sailing has been received.
If the Pilot Boat has not been used, a charge of 40% of the normal charge, in respect of the attendance of the crew, shall be made.
A PNPF Levy of £0.04p per DWAT will be added to the Pilotage charges in respect of the
contributions required to reduce the deficit of the Pilots National Pension Fund.
* Passage Inward counts as one Voyage; Passage Outward counts as one Voyage.
