Glasson Dock can accommodate vessels of up to 3500-4000 DWAT, with a guideline maximum LOA of 90 metres and beam of 14 metres, on the drying NAABSA River Berths. The Inner Dock Berths can accommodate vessels up to a maximum 85 metres LOA.
The Lancaster Port Commission is the Competent Harbour Authority for Glasson Dock and operates the Pilotage Service using the pilot vessels ‘Gertrude’ and ‘Trelawney’.
Cargoes handled include animal feedstuffs, fertilizers, aggregates and special cargoes, and the main port user, Glasson Grain Ltd, has a stevedoring department with a wide range of handling equipment, craneage, outdoor and undercover storage and three fifty-tonne weighbridges.
